Who is sponsoring LIR?
The sponsoring (serving) LIR is a member of the RIPE NCC community who helps establish communication between end users and RIPE NCC. Sponsoring LIR ensures the reliability of data in the RIPE NCC database for its clients, for such actions as, for example, updating contact information and changing routing policy.
Why do you need a sponsoring LIR?
According to the RIPE NCC policy, each end user must have a contract with a service provider. If there is no such agreement, then you, as the holder of an independent Internet resource provider, will receive a notification from RIPE NCC stating that within 30 days your resources will be withdrawn from use and returned to the free pool.
